HISTORIC ORIGINS
The Lucca Column is inspired by a set of six marble columns made in Granada, Spain, between 1350 and 1400, which are currently in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The original columns came from the Alhambra – the famous royal palace city in Granada, whose name means "Red," referring to the red clay from which it was constructed. The slender forms of the columns are characteristic of the architectural style of the Nasrid dynasty (1232–1492) and originally decorated the external courtyards between the palaces.
