HISTORIC ORIGINS
The Roumier dining chair evokes the richness of form and detail of a French armchair from 1788, part of the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The original was one of sixteen armchairs commissioned from master cabinetmaker Georges Jacob (French, 1739–1814) for Louis XVI's gaming salon in Saint-Cloud. The chair pays homage to the neoclassical elegance and meticulous craftsmanship that defined Jacob's style and the era of French Classicism.
