HISTORIC ORIGINS
The Imperial Double Chandelier is inspired by a marble column (circa 300 BCE) from the Temple of Artemis in Sardis, one of the most valuable exhibits in The Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection of Greek and Roman art. This monumental fragment of a fluted Ionic column, which originally stood over 17 meters high, is distinguished by its delicate, floral decorations on the capital – a unique feature among the surviving columns of this temple.
